Facts About Arizona Summers [[Help Us Stay in Business]]

Fact: Arizona is hot as hell in the Summer.

It's so hot in Arizona in the Summer, you start sweating when you walk out the door first thing (like, before 7) in the morning, regularly burn yourself on the seatbelt clicker, get sunburned driving in your car, and can cook eggs on the street (not really- we tried it one time to no avail).

Fact: It's way hot for at least 5 months out of the year.

May's Average High Temperature: 93
June's Average High Temperature: 103
July's Average High Temperature: 105
August's Average High Temperature: 103
September's Average High Temperature: 99

Fact: The average summer high temperature is the hottest of any area in the United States after Death Valley, which is the hottest of any major city in the United States, and approaches those of cities such as Riyadh and Baghdad. The temperature reaches or exceeds 100°F(38°) on an average of 110 days during the year, including most days from late May through early September, and highs top 110 °F (43 °C) an average of 18 days during the year. On June 26, 1990, the temperature reached an all-time recorded high of 122 °F (50 °C). Thank you Wikipedia.

Fact: The GROWop has no air conditioning.

Fact: Without AC, we will be out of business until the weather cools down : (

Fact: A super special, amazing person donated a four ton AC unit! Now we need to raise money to get this little (big) baby installed! Anything will help! Got an extra nickle layin around? That's more than we had yesterday! Anything, I mean ANYTHING, would be such an amazing help.

Fact: We are having a fundraiser. If you're local please stop by. It'll be fun, with local music, live painting, a dance floor, bonfire and more. Pretty please help us spread the word about this important event!

Myspace woot woo!

My lovely pal Danielle over at Sometimes Sweet did a fun post the other day. She posted a bunch of fun photos from her myspace. Now, I was a total myspace hater. I resisted and resisted until one boring snowy day in college. My friend and I decided together not to go to class- bad!- and instead we spent the day creating myspace pages. I guess, in hindsight, it was a pretty fun way to spend the day- bonding as we tried to make our pages as cool as possible and creep through people's profiles, looking for cute boys, haha. So yes I was a late bloomer and my photos aren't nearly as exciting but hey, I thought it would be a fun way for y'all to get to know more about me!

Oh and here's one of my new hair

If you're local come to First Fridays and say hello! 6th Street and Roosevelt.

Shop and Share

This weekend is the Shop and Share!   Spending your money at local businesses is an amazing gift to the businesses, community, and even to yourself! And it gets even better because participating businesses will donate 10% of their day's sales to Valley Leadership's Valley Teen Leadership Program.

Many of the shops on Roosevelt Row are participating in this great event (all of sixth street- woo!). Take a stroll, get some grub, and get all your Christmas shopping finished.

Updates

Boy have I been a busy bee. There is lots of fun stuff in the works around these parts. First, I am working on redesigning my blog with my super talented friend James. I can't wait to see how it all turns out. Aaand, I am moving my things into a new shop here in town called the Grow-op.  It's a collective of crafty folks and the best part- its two doors down from my dear friends over at Butter Toast. I am so excited. I have already been so inspired by Josh and Kenny- my buds who will be running the place with me- and all the other artists who have already joined in. This has all been such a learning experience that I am so luck to be able to have. I am learning so much about myself and life. I hope I can learn lots and push myself in creating and in exploring new crafts.

We are set to open this First Friday so if you are local be sure to pop in and say hello! And get psyched for the Pie Social November 13th. It's going to be great! Jasmine of Butter Toast, AJ of the Roose Parlor and Spa, and I will all be baking pies for the event.

Today is the day...

Today is the day of the Grand Avenue Festival here in Downtown Phoenix. I'll be busy today helping to get all the models decked out and lookin good. I've never done this before so I am really excited to see our "vision" come together and head down the runway. Fashion shows begin at 7pm at Bragg's Pie Factory. Stop by if you are local and say hello!

Danielle posted this on her blog yesterday and I loved it (especially the "Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them" part : ). I thought it was a nice little sentiment to start the weekend off with. I hope you all have a lovely, Fall-y weekend!

Fashion Show Prep

I spent the day helping my friend Jasmine of Butter Toast Boutique styling for a fashion show that's happening next Saturday at the Grand Avenue Festival. It sounds like it's gonna be an amazing event and, while I don't wanna toot my own horn, we've got some super cute looks going down the runway.  If you're local, you should definitely stop by and say hello and support your local businesses and designers.

P.S. Thank you all so much for telling me about the things you are thankful for. I wrote back to all your lovely comments so check it out. It's so fun getting to know you better!
